The ubiquitousness of photography makes it hard to single out truly creative people in this day and age. However, I believe that Jeff is one person worthy of note: his works carry with them a distinctive narrative, and an ability to celebrate human individuality and beauty.
In the 9 years that we've been acquainted, Jeff has always struck as the highly creative type, so it was no surprise to me that he took well to the camera. His love of people also helps here: like me, he is fueled by social interaction. This becomes the drive of the art, the energy that makes one look further then the moment.
Jeff has been able to capture the now established goth and BDSM scene of Northeast Ohio. He does this not only because he has a great understanding of presentation and an eye for composition, but because he is part of the scene. This allows him to chronicle them from within: not simply an observer from the sides for whom they pose, he is one of them and appeciates them. In return, their comfort level shows in the images created.
His erotic pieces recall the innocent glamour of the blue movies of the 1940's and 50's, and the idealized free love movement of the 60's. He doesn't simply show naked people, he celebrates their sexuality and emphasizes their personal expression. This to me, is what makes for a great artist.
I have little doubt that Jeff's work will serve as a reference to the beauty of the cultural creative of the early 21st century.
